Giannis Krekas the winner of the 11th Ioannina Lake Run

In fast pulse, high temperatures and almost 1.100 athletes at the starting line took place the 11th Ioannina Lake Run with Giannis Krekas finishing first in 1:43:36, failing to achieve a new record for just ten seconds for the 30km race. Second was Antonis Papadimitriou who finished in 1:45:06 and third Giorgos Menis in 1:46:20.

As for the women, first finished Deniz Dimaki in 2:01:51, achieving a new record for this certified by AIMS/IAAF route, second Vasiliki Karageorgaki in 2:02:07 and third Stefania Leontiadou in 2:04:09.

At the 10km race first was Athanasios Barbagiannis finishing in 32:35, second Nikos Skoutaris(34:10) and third Efstathios Chamosfakidis(34:57). At the women category finished first Vasiliki Konstantopoulou in 37:53, second Georgia Dimitriadou(41:28) and third Christina Bougia(43:44).

The vibe in the area was festive with thousands of people clapping and cheering for the athletes who participated in the three races of Sunday (30km, 10 km, 30km power walking) and were more than 1.600 in total.  

The athletes enjoyed the beautiful course despite the heat while more than 200 volunteers, and even residents of the area, served them at the supply stations.

The race followed the award ceremony and the cash prizes for the first three men and women (600, 300 and 150 euro respectively). Furthermore, all the winners of the divided by age categories were crowned with laurels made by the young members of the athletic club Poseidon.

The 11th Ioannina Lake Run war organized by the latter and the non-profit organization Limni, with the support of the Municipality of Ioannina, the Region of Epirus and the great sponsor Vikos Mineral Water.
