The collectible medal was the best reward

The best reward for the athletes who completed the races of Ioannina Lake Run was the collectible medal that was created by recognized sculptor Christos Skalkotos.

Following the “Runners” of sculptor Theodoros Papagiannis for the 10th Ioannina Lake Run anniversary, this year’s medal was dedicated to the biodiversity of Pamvotis lake ecosystem, being curved on the one side with the shape of a cormorant, a bird of high importance for the lake and its recognition as nature reserve.

The creation of Christos Skalkotos is inspired by lens-shaped signets (7th-6th century B.C.) and traveled in the runners’ luggage throughout Greece and abroad, as a reminder of the need to protect, preserve and respect nature and its ecosystems.
